Juliana was born in Wales to Ghanaian and Ugandan parents. She grew up in London and moved North to study a BA in English Literature at the University of York. She moved to the North East over two years ago to do an MA in Gender, Culture and Development. Since then she has worked with Théâtre Sans Frontières, Notional Theatre and the Hexham Book Festival. She has attended Creative Writing courses with Live Theatre (Newcastle), the Pascal Theatre Company (London) and the Storytelling Centre (Edinburgh).
Juliana has had a number of poems published in anthologies including Whispers from Paradise (Anchor Books 1999) and A Stream of Imaginings (The International Library of Poetry 2000). She has written for BBC Radio Newcastle and has taught Creative Writing at the Angelou Centre (Newcastle). Juliana is now working in Arts Development in South East Northumberland and she’s currently working on a novel and a piece for performance.
